School Rules

We expect every pupil to behave appropriately and not disrupt the education of others.   Our School Rules – the “Golden Rules” operate throughout the whole school.

These rules are reinforced at all times, both in class and through assemblies.   Children are rewarded with Golden Time every week for keeping the rules, and are sanctioned with loss of Golden Time.   Some behaviour will be dealt with through other methods, including loss of a whole/part playtime.   If your child has difficulty following our school rules, we will contact you with our concerns so that we can decide on another approach altogether.

The Golden Rules are:

  • Do be gentle
  • Do be kind
  • Do work hard
  • Do listen
  • Do be honest
  • Do look after property

A similar set of playground rules exists for both P1-3 and P4-7

Cockenzie Primary School deals with all reported incidents of bullyuing in accordance with our “Anti-bullying Policy” as part of East Lothian Council’s guidelines and procedures.

Occasionally, unsuitable behaviour results in a child being excluded from school.   More information regarding this sanction can be obtained from the school.
