Awards Evening Trophies
If you received a cup or a shield in recognition of your achievements at the Awards Evening last September – it is now time to return it to the school office. No need to polish it!
East Linton Students
Please can students who take the East Linton bus hand in their smartcard to their registration teacher on Wednesday 14th June. This will enable them to be programmed for use on the buses next session. If you are absent or have lost your card, please see the school office without delay, or contact Transportation at John Muir House directly.
P7 Information and Open Evening

It would be appreciated if locker order forms could be handed in to the office by Friday 23rd June with £15 payment. Cheques made payable to ‘East Lothian Council’ please. Priority for lockers will be given to students with disabilities and S1 students.
We look forward to meeting up with our new S1 students on Friday 16th June where they will find out their classes and get to know their new class mates and our Pupil Support Team. Then they will return for their two-day visit on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th June where they will attend classes and meet their teachers. With them on their Friday visit, we would request that students bring up to £10 to put onto their smartcard to cover their 2 breaks and 2 lunches on the following Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th. Any monies not spent will be carried forward on their cards to August.
Breaking News: the smartcard machine has now been upgraded to accept the new five pound notes!
New S6 Lockers
Now is the time to return your locker key to the school office. Return by 21st June to claim your £5 deposit back.

The deadline for orders is Friday 16th June. Collection will be from 1.30pm on Monday 14th August 2017 from the school office. Please note that any students not wearing uniform should carry a note from their parent/carer.
S3 (New S4) Ceremony
On Wednesday 7th June we held our S3 Ceremony. Students were presented with certificates marking the end of their Broad General Education phase. On this day we celebrated the talents and successes of this year group. The event was well attended by parents and carers. The audience was impressed by the many moving performances from the students who took a lead role in organising the whole event. Your son or daughter has been working on a personal profile all year. This profile is a reflection of their achievements and experiences from the broad general education. The profile is stored on Edubuzz, East Lothian Council’s secure online cloud. If you wish to see the profile ask your child to share it with you on gmail or they can download a copy for you to keep on your computer’s hard drive. We recommend that all parent/carers have a good look at these as they represent an excellent record of students’ progression throughout the first 3 years at Dunbar Grammar School.

Our annual S6 Leavers’ prom was held last night at the Roxburghe Hotel in Edinburgh. A fantastic night was had by students and staff – a perfect farewell to a great year. On behalf of everyone at Dunbar Grammar School, we wish them all the very best for the future and hope that they will keep in contact with us.
This year’s School Show is We Will Rock You on 19th, 20th, 21st June at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the school office: adults £8, concessions £6.

Your PTA Needs You!
Our next meeting is on Wednesday 14th June in the Volunteer Arms at 6.30pm. We are looking for volunteers to join the committee. We are a small group who have lots of fun fundraising for the students in the school and urgently need more help. The meeting will last for 30mins and will give you an opportunity to find out what we do, how often we meet and types of events we run. If you would like any further information please contact Jane on 860804.
UCAS Event at Heriot Watt University 19th June
Students intending to apply to university next session are strongly encouraged to attend this event. We have organised a coach and are offering 46 places on a first come first served basis.
Students should contact Guidance to secure a place.
Any remaining payments for students going on the Modern Studies trip to London in September are now due. £150 should be paid to the school office (cheques made payable to East Lothian Council), or by using the East Lothian Council online payments system.
Blazers for S5s and S6s
Students who already have an unbraided blazer and will be applying to be a Prefect in S5 or S6 can have braiding added to the blazer for £12. Please speak to Mrs Leigh Leslie in the school office as soon as possible.
Textbooks – Senior Students
If you have a National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher textbook at home, please can you bring it back to your teacher ASAP. We need them back urgently!
Edinburgh International Book Festival
There are still a few spaces on the excursion to the Edinburgh International Book Festival (Baillie Gifford Schools Programme) on 22 August 2017. It’s open to students in the current S1 – S3 year groups, and is a wonderful opportunity to hear authors speak about their most recent books. The cost will be no more than £12 and we have space for 30 students. Each student will be given a £3 voucher to use towards a book purchase on the day. Further details are available from Mrs Fry. S1 and S2 Activities Week – Parent and Carer Perspective
Each year we feel it is important to evaluate the S1 and S2 Activities Week experiences with a view to potentially alter or amend future programmes. Therefore your feedback and comments are extremely valuable.
