Lowland, Hill and Mountain Walking

Our courses and qualifications are aimed at providing you with both personal and leadership skills to help develop your confidence and competence in Scotland’s lowlands, moors, hills and mountains.

As an approved Mountain Training provider our courses are moderated to the national scheme syllabus and standards.

Hill-walking Leadership Qualifications

From 2014-15 East Lothian Council is adopting the new Lowland Leader Award as the base level qualification for teachers and community leaders leading East Lothian Council school and community groups in lowland areas.   The award is managed and moderated by Mountain Training and will be delivered by ELC Outdoor Learning staff.  It is made up of a training course, assessment course and an additional overnight Expedition Module.  All of these courses are open to both ELC  and external candidates.  All applicants will be required to register with Mountain Training before attending the course, details on how to do this are outlined in the course details below..
