Interested in a career in marine biology?

The Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust (HWDT), is a conservation NGO based in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull – one of Scotland’s Inner Hebridean islands.  Every field season, May – October, the trust conducts Cetacean Research Surveys from a fully-equipped yacht, Silurian – welcoming aboard enthusiastic participants to help undertake essential data collection.

For the past three years, HWDT has facilitated specific Teen Teams for enthusiasts aged 16-17; allowing those who join the opportunity to experience life as a field biologist.  It’s a fantastic learning opportunity for those considering a career in marine biology or field biology – as well as being an awesome experience.  Teens who join a survey will live and work on board Silurian, exploring the Hebrides whilst recording whales, dolphins, porpoises and other environmental variables.  Evenings are spent venturing ashore to explore (often inaccessible islands) and learning through presentations and group discussions provided by our on board scientists.  Please click here for more information.
