Study Leave

Study leave for Senior Phase pupils (S4, S5, S6) begins on Tuesday 2nd May 2017.

Some pupils will be following a non-study leave programme of vocational activities and they will receive a letter explaining all of this shortly.  Details will also be put on the website.

Our new timetable will start on Monday 5th June 2017.  Pupils will move up a year group so we expect all of our pupils back at this stage, except our current S6 who will have officially left.

NBHS PTA Monthly Prize Draw

Congratulations to the February Prize Draw winner, Sandra Watson, who receives a cheque for £40. Thank you to all who already support this valuable fundraiser, which has raised £2,000 so far this year for the Library Project (purchase of new books and furniture). If you’d like to sign up please contact For an annual sub of just £18 your name gets entered into 12 monthly draws, each for £40.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards

NBHS will soon be launching the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Our aim is to offer the Bronze Award for a limited number of current S2 learners, for them to work through and complete all sections whilst in S3. There are 3 sections of The Award: Skills, Service and Physical Recreation, alongside the expedition section and all must be completed to gain the Bronze Award.

A full launch will happen during an S2 assembly before the Easter holidays, and letters will be coming home with further details after this. If we are oversubscribed then we will pull names out of a hat, and create a waiting list.

In future years, we aim to offer Silver and Gold levels but this will be dependent on learner uptake and support from the wider community. If you interested in getting involved with helping us run this award in any way, and particularly if you have any outdoor qualifications, please get in touch through the school office.

French boy seeking host family

We are a French family and we are looking for a family to welcome our son Robin next year for the school year. I am Caroline, the mother of Robin. We wish that he will be able to spend time in a Scottish family for a school year in order to improve his English. We have chosen Scotland because we have already spent time there and loved it and we have got some family living in Edinburgh, so Robin will be able to spend some time, or weekends, with his family.

Robin Is 15. He is very sporty (he is practicing handball in a club, and likes to go biking, running and swimming). He loves spending time with his friends, going to the movies, listening music, watching tv… and he is also taking part in a drama class. Continue reading French boy seeking host family
