London Trip 2014

We were up and at the train station for 7:30am on Monday morning. The weather wasn’t the best but at least it was dry. The train journey to London whizzed by and we were on the Tube to our hotel in no time at all. We arrived at a Premier Inn which would be our home for the week and unpacked our bags. We gathered outside about to head off sightseeing before a meal at the Hard Rock Café. After our meal we had a long walk where we visited 10 Downing Street, Buckingham Palace and took some group photos before arriving back at the hotel. You could tell already it was going to be non-stop.

After a good night’s sleep and a full English breakfast we were off to the tube into the centre of London. We visited the Bank of England and received a talk. After that we had a quick visit to the Olympic park for those who wanted to go and we jumped back on the tube again for our afternoon activity. Half the group visited Madame Tussauds and the other half visited London Dungeons. I visited London Dungeons and it was fantastic! After both the activities had finished we headed off to Nandos. We had another great meal after another exhausting day. After a long day we headed back to the hotel and it was the first time we had time to relax in our rooms.

The next day we were up early and ready for our day at Thorpe Park. We were given quick talk on how Thorpe Park runs and how it attracts customers before jumping onto the rides. The majority of the group went on the highest and fastest ride in Europe, Stealth. After Thorpe Park we had dinner at Pizza Hut and after being stuffed with great pizza went to see X-Men in 3D before heading back to the hotel.

On Thursday we visited the Science Museum and had a chance to do some shopping on Oxford Street. We didn’t get long back at the hotel before we were out for a fantastic meal at Wagamamas which for me had to be the best meal of the week. Finally we boarded the London Eye. The view was fantastic and you could see every corner of London. We did some late night packing before our departure early on Friday morning.

Overall it was an amazing trip and very well planned out so that we could fit all our activities in. The highlight has to be Thorpe Park along with our meals at the different restaurants.

A massive thank you to all the teachers who took part in the planning of the trip as well as the teachers who came along!
