Primary 1 have been thinking about how they can make sure everyone feels happy and safe at school.
So far we have thought of 4 ways to make everyone feel happy and safe.
In P1 we share, keep trying, remember to use our manners and are kind to others.
These are our class rules.
The leaves on this beautiful flower remind us of our rules.
We have all made an excellent start to following the rules.
It’s lovely to welcome back all of our pupils at the start of our new school year and to hear all of the stories of what they’ve been up to over the holidays.
For last year’s nursery children, it’s been the first few days in their new school uniforms.
Check out these photographs of how grown up they look!

We’ll be taking to the railway path on Friday morning when the P3 – P7s will be running in our 2km and 3km summer races.
We’re looking for marshalls and supporters so please come to cheer the children on, anywhere along the route from the Howden Bridge to the end of Hillview Road.
The run will start at 9:30am, from George Crescent, with the 3k runners going up and over the bridge and the 2km runners taking a right onto the old railway at the Howden.
It was very exciting in P1/2 yesterday when the postman delivered a postcard from our friend Zog. Zog had sent it all the way from the Amazon Rainforest!
In writing on Monday we will be writing our own postcards to Mrs Gardyne.
Have a look at home to see if you have any postcards you can bring in and share with the class.
There is a lot of cycling activity going on next week! Abby and Aimee are making bike powered smoothies, there will be our usual bike maintenance group and there is a family fun cycle on Friday afternoon.

The information below should tell you where and when the baton will be passing through East Lothian. Mrs Bennion is running the first leg through Tranent from the roundabout until halfway up Church Street. Let’s hope she’s been doing lots of training for the steep hill!

P1/2 read ‘The Kapok Tree’ today and had a class discussion about the message the book was giving us. This message was that the animals were feeling angry and sad that the man was trying to chop down their home- The Kapok Tree.
We wrote a letter to the man sharing our feelings about his actions. We took on the role of an animal and had a think about how the animals would be feeling knowing their home was going to be cut down.
Can you think about ways you can help to ‘Save the Rainforest?’
P1/2 would love to know!
A team of p7 girls have decided they would like to do the race for life on the 15 June 2014 after were inspired by Rachel from P7. We are all looking forward to doing it together. We have seven girls from our class including three of our teachers. We are amazed by how much we have raised over the past couple of weeks and are grateful of the people that are still donating. Our total is now over £1500 and are well passed our target We are doing this because of family who have fought cancer and for those who are fighting cancer.
