A team of reviewers, led by our Head of Education, Fiona Robertson, will review the work of Prestonpans Infants on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th November 2016. The purpose of the review is to ‘improve our understanding of existing good practice about effective interventions for our most disadvantaged children and use this evidence to inform the East Lothian Attainment Challenge Strategic Plan’. The team will watch teaching and learning in action in the nursery and school, speak to children about their learning and look at their written work. They will also speak to parents and carers, the staff team and school management. 6 East Lothian schools are being reviewed and a report will be published to the Education Committee of East Lothian Council in Spring next year.
It’s time to enrol for August 2017 if your child is starting school then. Please come into school to fill in an enrolment form. You can come at any time in the next 2 weeks but it’s easier to manage if you can come at the start and end of the school or nursery sessions.
8.15 – 9.15am, 12 – 1.30, 2.45 – 3.30, 4.30 – 4.50pm
You need to bring a birth certificate for the child, your latest Council Tax letter, a utility bill from within the last 6 months that shows your current address.
We would ask families to enrol their child by 4 November although we can take enrolments up to 11 November.
It’s an exciting time for families and we look forward to welcoming you and to telling you what happens next on your child’s journey into P1. 🙂
I’ve had a bit of difficulty uploading the menu. The menu is on page 2 of the document. Click on the menu to make it bigger. Thank you.
Ms Laing, Mrs Cameron and Mrs McBirnie will be in the playground tomorrow to show you where to line up. There will also be signs up showing you where to line up. P1s will come in by the new extension. P2s will come in the dining room door. P3s will come in the door by the staff room. If you are not sure who your child’s teacher is, we will also have lists to check this.
The Parent Council and staff have worked together to give new P1 grown ups a gift for when they bring their child to school. Keep it until you get home and have a wee look. It’s got some wee surprises in it!
Our new P1 parents and carers are invited to stay and have a cuppa in the gym hall with Ms Laing and Mrs Cameron. We’ll update you on how the children are settling then let you go.
Outside the front door we will be putting the uniform that families so kindly handed in. Everything is good enough to wear again and it’s FREE. Just help yourself.
There will be a newsletter tomorrow.
We were planning to have a picnic in he playground on Saturday from 1-3pm but the weather forecast is awful. It’s to rain from Friday evening right through Saturday. So we will postpone the picnic to another day. We will let you know when that is.
