Fairtrade Fortnight 2013

In P5 we have been learning about Fairtrade. We were very lucky to have Mrs Brown visit us to talk about Fairtrade, social justice and the work that goes on in our Parish. Inspired by this, we have created Fairtrade boards for the main entrance to the school. We created posters and pieces of work that illustrate and advertise Fairtrade Fortnight. Come in and have a look OR visit the Tuck Shop where fantastic Fairtrade products are available to buy! Go on take a step towards Fairtrade in 2013!

  3. P2 will be visiting Springfield Mill on Wednesday, 21 March, as part of their Environmental Studies topic studying local park areas. The park is close to the school but will require transport as the road is not safe for large groups of children to walk safely. A coach has been hired to transport the children to the park. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing appropriate clothing – a raincoat and wellingtons where possible – as we will be exploring wet pond areas.

  4. The shop will open on Friday mornings and will sell a range of Fairtrade drinks and snacks, including healthy snack choices. Last year Olivia H came up with the idea of a loyalty card for the shop – a special school stamp is awarded with the purchase of a healthy item (e.g. fresh fruit juice, pineapple pot, apricots or raisins) and when the loyalty card is full it entitles the holder to a 50% discount off any of our Fairtrade products.

  5. Today in our Fairtade meeting we were disscusing what we would buy for our Parents Night Christmas Stall. We’ve dicided on a range of different products that would appeal to parents. We also raised am astonishing £168 from the the first fairtrade tuck shop of the year. At parents night we hope you will enjoy our fairtrade products and were looking forward to serving you.

  6. We would also like to invite you to join your child for a healthy picnic lunch on the school field from 12.00pm onwards, after the events have been completed. We have attached some ideas for this on the reverse which you may find useful.
