As you may or may not know, the children of St.Gabriel’s will be creating & making various Arts & Craft for the Annual Parent Fundraiser to be held on the 1st of December this year. The teachers & children have come up with some very creative and exciting gift ideas this year so I’m sure none will be disappointed! We look forward to seeing you there to share some of the Christmas spirit!
The whole school gathered together this morning to celebrate our 40th Birthday. Wearing our party clothes we sang..Happy Birthday Dear St Gabriel’s. Mrs Rudkin having been at our school for 39years cut the cake with the help of the eldest child in the school, the youngest child in P1 and a pupil from nursery. We played traditional party games like children would have in 1967. Children went home with party bags containing a special gift from the Parents’ Association and that all important new pencil.
Our 40th Anniversary will be celebrated in the week beginning 14th of May. We have planned some special events to mark the occasion of 40 years of St.Gabriels RC Primary on this site. The school opened in 1967, which for the children is the Dark Ages!
To help us share our history we are looking for items for a mini museum exhibition of items of interest from anytime from 1967 onward. Of course, if you have anything from the original St.Gabriel’s we would love to see that too.
Do you have any old report cards, textbooks, photos, old uniform or original clothing from the 60’s, toys etc? Our P7 pupils will take very good care of them and return them to you. They have had a lesson from East Lothian’s Museum service as part of their Enterprise work.
Don’t miss out on the fun! Check our calendar for the up & coming events!
