MP3 + EAL

Linda Bain, the librarian at Preston Lodge High School has introduced the latest technology to improve the reading experience. MP3 players are now available for use in the library and audio books are being converted to MP3 files.

This means that it is now much easier for pupils to access books.  As they are read by actors, the quality of the language is first rate and ensures excellent support for all pupils. Those for whom English is an additional language benefit particularly from the support of the spoken word and it helps develop listening skills and reinforce key language.

This is an example of very good practice and could also be considered for class readers and other key subject documents.

  1. I’m very interested in how we can extend this experience to pupils who may be absent from school due to ill health over extended periods.
Any ideas aboout lending for home use?
