Education Accessibility Strategy

Dear Parents/Carers

As you know, every local authority Education Department has a statutory duty to develop an Accessibility Strategy and action plan.  We are currently working on our new strategy and as part of that process we have prepared questionnaires for parents, partners and school staff.
The link to the questionnaires on the East Lothian Consultation Hub is below.

Named Person Update – East Lothian

We will carry on sharing wellbeing concerns with partner agencies as before, using the GIRFEC approach and in line with the child protection procedures we currently follow.

We thought many people would be wondering how the recent Supreme Court judgement about the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act would affect children and young people’s welfare in East Lothian nurseries, schools and colleges.

The Supreme Court decision means that the Scottish Government now has to amend:

  • Section 4 of the Act that deals with provision of Named Persons
  • Section 5 that covers the Child’s Plan.

Please find below a link to the document giving more detail on what is currently happening with regards to the named person

Named Person – Business as usual
