Today’s whole class reading lesson was from an Oxford Reading Tree reading book called “The Bully.” We read this today as part of our focus on Bullying. The children were reassuringly sensible and were very aware of what to do if someone made them frightened or upset. It would be helpful if you could take time to discuss the text as well as your child’s ideas and questions about bullying. Please let me know if there are any issues arising – I am certainly not aware of any at the present time.:)

Thank you to everyone for their get well wishes – all back to normal today!
It’s the Yester Christmas Fayre next Thursday evening (7:00 – 9:00), so Primary 1 had to get busy today making things to sell. Thank goodness our Primary 7 Buddies came along this afternoon to help us with our sewing…

This morning, the children told me what to write and together, we made instructions to make a Catherine wheel firework. We used bullet points to help us.
- First, decorate a paper plate.

- Then glue some streamers and pipe cleaners onto the plate.

- Finally, hang your firework up.

This week, the children have been learning about Guy Fawkes and making some fireworks pictures and models.
Yesterday, the children dipped chalks into some sugar and water to make sparkly fireworks pictures. Today, we watched a clip of a burning catherine wheel and made models.

Only 5 weeks until our Nativity play, “Little Angel Gets Her Wings” – children excited, staff stressed already!
Today, we joined our friends from Nursery, Primary 2 and Primary 3 for our first rehearsal. We are planning to get together for half an hour twice a week to learn the songs and parts.
If you would like to sing along at home, here is the link to the website we used. There is a little demonstration for each song which you can enjoy.
