Over the next couple of weeks, our class are learning about symmetry.
This morning, we looked at our reflections and talked about about mirror images. We used the mirrors to discover what the other half of a butterfly would look like.
We cut some symmetrical shapes and marked the lines of symmetry. We also drew and coloured symmetrical designs on eggs.
Next, we coloured some symmetrical designs…..some of the were very challenging!
Well done Primary 1!

We had lots of fun designing, writing instructions for, making and eating vegetable faces!
First, we looked at different kinds of vegetables. We talked about their names and what we could use them for when we designed our faces.
Next, we drew designs and wrote instructions to make the faces.
We swapped our instructions with our Talking Partners to make the faces. The best bit was eating them afterwards!

A creative classroom in Primary 1!
We watched the story of “Jack and the Beanstalk.”
We talked about what we thought the Giant’s garden might look like. We thought it might have a pond, a bridge, some flowers and trees……and it would be magic!
We got to work making the magic garden.
We worked ALL MORNING!

After a huge tidy, we made diagrams to match our Magic Gardens.

The children have been busy in Learning Areas making things to go into their Body Books – drawings at the easel, cutting out at the writing table and making skeletons using construction materials. Well done everyone!

Our Ceilidh to day was fantastic – thank you to all those who came along to support us.
For those of you who didn’t manage to drop by, here are some photos. I think there may be more “action shots” on the P1/2 class website too!

It is World Book Day on Thursday, 5th March.
Just a quick reminder that the children have been invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Primary 1 children are also going to be working with their Nursery Buddies on Thursday, so could they also bring in their favourite book to share? Don’t forget to put names on books!
Our much anticipated Primary 1 and 1/2 Ceilidh will be taking place on Monday 9th March at 1:30 – 2:50. It would be great to see you there if you can make it! The children can come to school dressed in anything tartan – from full kilt or tartan hair ribbon! We have made tartan rosettes, so everyone will have something to wear on the day.
Make sure you wear footwear suitable for dancing – audience participation required!

Glad the website is up and running again. (Still waiting for new projector and wand though!)
We couldn’t get into the gym hall this week as it was being used by some visiting scientists (we will have our turn in a few weeks…)
However, we still worked with P1/2 in their classroom to prepare for our Ceilidh on Monday, 9th March at 1:30.
We made some tartan rosettes to wear. Fair braw!

A date for your diary……
At the moment, Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 are working together to put on a ceilidh for the grown-ups!
It would be fantastic to see as many parents there as possible to join in the fun. The ceilidh is planned for Monday 9th March at 1:30.

The children have been learning about the first Christmas and the characters in the story. They made beautiful 3D nativity scenes to show who was in the story.
