All the children in school are busy making table decorations for our Christmas Lunch on Wednesday. We asked our friends in Primary 6 to come and help us make some crackers.
We had a great afternoon- thank you Primary 6!

If you aren’t already singing along to our Christmas Nativity songs at home I’m sure you will be soon! (See previous post for link to songs.)
In addition to learning the words, the children have been using Signalong signs to help communicate their singing. I have made a little slideshow of all the signs required in the different songs. It would be really helpful if you could look at these together and ask your child to show you how the accompany each song. Good luck!

PS – Look out for notes in reading diaries/reading bags/school bags over the next week or so for details of words, parts and costumes!

We’ve started!
Rehearsals are underway for our Nursery (AM group) to P3 Nativity Play. This year, it is called “Magical Christmas Journey.” There will be 2 ticketed performances at 10:00 and 2:00 on Thursday, 11th December. More details will follow nearer the time.
If you would like to join in the fun, follow this link. It will take you to the Starshine Music website, where you can sing along to the songs the children are learning in class.

“Remember, remember the 5th of November….”
Primary 1 certainly did that today!
We ordered numbers in firework dot-to-dot puzzles…….we wrote some fireworks poems……and we made these AMAZING fireworks pictures!

We dipped chalk into a mixture of warm water and sugar. That made the chalk shiny and sparkly.
Next, Lesley helped us to drip glue and put gold glitter on our pictures.
Mrs Jamieson put them on the wall and hung our homework fireworks in front of our pictures.
They look fantastic!
Apologies for the lateness of the following few posts…….
Parent Council very kindly gave each class some money to spend on Golden Time Activities. To say “Well done!” for completing all the Autumn Challenges, Mrs Jamieson bought some woodland owl kits. We had great fun following the instructions and putting them together.
Thank you Parent Council!

Our final Autumn Challenge was to go and gather signs of Autumn and make a picture with the things we had gathered.
We took some bags down to the woods and gathered leaves, berries, cones and nuts. Back in the classroom, we sorted our bags and made pictures using the things we gathered.

We opened our second Autumn Challenge envelope today. Dinosaur Dan has asked us to make a non-fiction book about a hibernating animal. He also left us a short film to watch to help us.

We are very busy writing our non-fiction books – hopefully Mums and Dads will get to see the on Parents’ Night. We are going to read them to our P7 Buddies on Friday too.
This afternoon, we made model hedgehogs using playdough, pasta shapes, googly eyes tissue and paper plates. We are going to use the photos of them for the front cover of our books.

Dinosaur Dan left us his last letter this week. He told us it was getting a bit cold for him because it was Autumn, and he wanted to go back to Dinosaur Land.
He did, however, leave us some envelopes with Autumn Challenges in them, which we will be opening and completing over the next few weeks.
Our first envelope asked us if we knew about Autumn colours. We decided that Autumn colours would be the colours we might see on the leaves at this time of year. The challenge also asked us to make a painting like Wassily Kandinsky’s, using Autumn colours!
We found out that Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian artist who painted a picture with lots of circles. We used Autumn colours to make paintings just like his. They look beautiful on our classroom wall. Make sure you look out for them at Parents’ Night!
