We joined our Buddies in Nursery for a visit from the Fire Service! They told us about fighting fires and how we can prevent them. We also got a shot of the hose!
Brilliant fun!

As part of Health Month, our class worked with Colin from “Destination Judo.” We put on some judo jackets and had great fun learning about judo and how it keeps us active and healthy.

We need to remember that judo is not for the playground!

We worked with our Nursery Buddies this morning. Mrs Munro and Mrs Jamieson had exciting news for us. We are hoping that the fire engine will come to school next Monday!
The Firefighters asked if we would do a little work together before they came to talk to us.
They asked us to watch this film about the importance of staying safe near matches.

Next, we helped our Buddies to colour in some pictures for the firefighters.

We are all looking forward to seeing the fire engine next week!

Our lovely Dinner Ladies invited us along to the lunch hall this morning to taste some fruits and smoothies. We took our Nursery Buddies too. Some of the fruits were very exotic and Debbie told us the names of them. We had a great time!

We had lots of fun designing, writing instructions for, making and eating vegetable faces!

First, we looked at different kinds of vegetables. We talked about their names and what we could use them for when we designed our faces.

Next, we drew designs and wrote instructions to make the faces.

We swapped our instructions with our Talking Partners to make the faces. The best bit was eating them afterwards!

Clean Hands on PhotoPeach

We have been learning how to wash our hands properly. We need to know this because we are learning how to keep our bodies clean and healthy. We are also planning to plant, harvest and prepare vegetables, so clean hands are a must!

We used this song to help us today.

We followed the instructions to wash our hands properly. Then we made posters to illustrate the instructions.

I haven’t glued the posters into whole class reading jotters today because I thought the children might like to display them in the house, near a sink.

For homework, the children have been asked to show a grown-up how to wash hands properly.

Have fun!

This week is “Walk to School Week” at Yester. We are recording how we come to school on a bar graph every morning. It would be great if you could support this as far as you can at home. The children were given a little booklet of activities to complete. If they bring it into school at the end of the week, I can photocopy the certificate for their Achievement Book.
