We are very excited to have Moira from the Youth Music Initiative working with P1, P1/2 and P2/3 at the moment. She is helping us to write a musical production called “The River Path.” We will perform our production to parents on Friday, 26th June at 11:15 in the hall. Hope to see you there!

I hope you all received your child’s report card last week and have enjoyed reading it. A polite reminder that the cut off slip should be signed and returned to school as soon as possible.

Thanks.

There is going to be a “Blooming Tea Party” Coffee Morning in school on Friday, 19th June from 9:00 – 11:30. This will be in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

We’d be grateful for any donations of home baking , which can be sent into school nearer the time.

It would be great to see lots of people there! If you would like to support this event, but can’t make it into school, the children can put your donation into the pot on your behalf.

Thanks.

This week is “Walk to School Week” at Yester. We are recording how we come to school on a bar graph every morning. It would be great if you could support this as far as you can at home. The children were given a little booklet of activities to complete. If they bring it into school at the end of the week, I can photocopy the certificate for their Achievement Book.

Chocolate Egg and Lunch!

One of our parents very kindly handed in some chocolate Easter Eggs for the children today. I have asked the children to put them into schoolbags and take them home. They need to ask your permission before they gobble them up!

Just a reminder that the new summer lunch menu starts on Monday, 27th April. The “oldest and only” children should have brought them home some time this week. Please take time to look at them together and discuss choices for your child.

Welcome Back!

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

The children seemed pleased to be back in school with their friends and getting back to work.

Just to let you know, there are a few letters in school bags today and if you haven’t sent gym kit back, can you please do so as soon as possible?

We can look at a picture of the word “bed.” The letters actually make the shape of a bed. We know the first sound in “bed” is “b” so that is the first letter shape. We know that the last sound in the word “bed” is “d” so that is the last letter shape.

We can also make a bed shape with our hands. Our first thumb makes the “b” shape and our other thumb makes the “d” shape. Handy when you want to do a quick check as you’re writing or reading!
