There should be a Mud Kitchens Invitation in school bags today.
Mud Kitchens Day
Dear Parents,
As you know, Nursery and Primary 1 children have been working together every Monday in their Mud Kitchen! We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to come and join us on Thursday, 19th June at 11:00 – 12:00.
Please wear ”Muddy Clothes,” as you will be helping to make mud pies, soups and stews!
Looking forward to seeing you,
Jen Jamieson, Zoe Munro
Nursery had a visit from a fire engine and some firemen today. They asked us if we would like to join them…….OF COURSE!

There may be some more photos on the nursery webpage from Mrs Munro’s camera!
When the rain spoiled our Sports Day yesterday, we had to come back inside. Our P7 Buddies came to help us make sporty board games instead. We made them yesterday, then played them today. It was great fun! The children can bring them home and show you how to play!

After Mud Kitchens this morning, we showed our Buddies what to do at playtime. We played games like “Tig” and “Hide and Seek.” After a drink and snack, we went up to the field to play some rugby with Scott. What a busy morning!

Another Muddy Monday for the Nursery and Primary 1 children! Today, we welcomed some of the children who will be joining Primary 1 next session from other nurseries. The P1 Buddies did an excellent job looking after them. 🙂
Our challenge from Esmerelda the Woodland Elf, was to use her colour charts to find things in the woods that matched them exactly. We also had time to make up our own recipes in the Mud Kitchen.

As part of our Science Week, we took part in a science workshop this morning called “Little Giants.” It helped us to find out about bees – how they gather nectar and make honey. We also found out how bees help to pollenate flowers. We had great fun!
(Again, if you can’t see your child in these photos, they may have been working with Mrs Munro, so check the Nursery web page.)

Ezmerelda the Woodland Elf left us another letter today. She gave us some recipes from her recipe book to make, mats to make pictures and wildflower seeds to plant – a busy (and muddy) time in the woods with our Nursery Buddies this morning!
(The children were split into 2 groups – one group working with me and the other group working with Mrs Munro. If you can’t see your child in these photos, please have a look on the nursery webpage!)

This morning, we looked at a big box of vegetables…
We decided to write some instructions to make vegetable faces! We thought we could take our instructions and box of vegetables down to Primary 2 and ask if they would like to make (and eat) vegetable faces with us.
After we designed our faces and wrote our instructions, we talked about eating together. We made place mats for our plates and made sure that we laid the cutlery correctly on the table!

We took everything down to the P2 classroom after lunch. First, we showed our friends how to wash their hands PROPERLY, then got to work. We read the instructions, then gathered our ingredients to make our vegetable faces.
The finished vegetable faces looked amazing!

The best part of the day….was eating the faces!
We had a woodland elf in our classroom today – Esmerelda!
Esmerelda left a letter for the Nursery and Primary 1 children. Her fairy and elf friends want to go on holiday and thought that our woodlands would be a lovely place to stay. However, they need to have a quiet area for reading and drawing and a place to make a kitchen. She asked if we would go down to the woods to find some suitable places….so we did!

We left a little present for Esmerelda and her woodland friends – ingredients and utensils to make some woodland fairy cakes!
