Cruisers have been very busy doing lots of Christmas activities, making lovely decorations and pictures to take home using paint, glitter and gluing materials.

We have also learnt the words and actions to Christmas songs and our favourite was ‘when Santa got stuck up the chimney’! We all had lots of fun at our party and enjoyed dancing to the music. We shook our bells and sang ‘Jingle bells’ and the Christmas fairy came to visit us and give the boys and girls their Christmas presents.

Cruisers were very excited when it snowed and watched from their window, we brought in some snow from the garden and put it into our water tray which the children all confidently explored.

Cruisers have still be interested in animals so we have been talking about different farm animals and role-playing with the farm set, looking at flash cards and learning what noises the animals make. We even used the animals to paint and make foot prints.

We have been using the home corner to role-play and pretend to cook, especially enjoying feeding the dolls. We have extended on this by doing some baking activities; using our fine-motor skills to mix and pour the ingredients together to make biscuits and banana and oatbars. We also washed the dolls in the water tray using towels and allowing the children to dry the dolls. We also added bubbly water to the home corner sink so the children were able to wash dishes.

We have an informal parents evening on Monday 12th January from 6-8pm where you will have the opportunity to come along and speak to staff about GIRFEC and see your child’s progress. We hope you will be able to come along.
