Building Foundations for the Future!

We have been busy learning about the Winter season and Christmas. During our winter topic we explored ice in a variety of ways inside and outside by using ice cubes in our water tray and watching ice melt outside in the garden using salt. We created snow men pictures and penguin pictures using our hand and foot prints. We were also lucky enough to see lots of snowflakes from our pre-school windows.

For Christmas we made hand and foot print Christmas tree decorations then painted them for taking home. We spoke about The Nativity and the story of Christmas then decorated characters from the Nativity story and made a baby Jesus in the stable display. The children have been learning their Christmas carols; Away in a manger, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and when Santa got stuck up the chimney. Our other Christmas activities included funny Christmas cards, reindeer dust, calendars and Christmas gluings.

All the children enjoyed seeing the Christmas fairy that made a special visit to pre-school using the key that was left out especially for her and received a present. They had lots of fun snacks and party games with prizes!

We have an informal parents evening on Monday 12th January from 6-8pm where you will have the opportunity to come along and speak to staff about GIRFEC and see your child’s progress. We hope you will be able to come along.
