During December we have been very busy preparing for Santa coming. We have been talking more about Christmas and Santa coming to visit everybody’s house. We have been making our Christmas cards and crafts to go home to all the mummies and daddies. Our crafts included a snowflake, Christmas tree baubles, reindeer dust, salt dough shapes and gluing. We have also been learning our Christmas songs; Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bells and when Santa got stuck up the chimney.

We have been implementing the use of sign along in our room and during welcome we have been looking at the different actions. We have been working on ‘cuddle’, ‘sit’ and ‘music’.

Outside in the garden we have been setting up turn taking games and encouraging them to participate with all their friends and praising them for their waiting and sharing. The girls have enjoyed taking turns on the see-saw and boys and taking turns and sharing the different bikes outside in the garden.

Toddlers had a fantastic time at their Christmas party and enjoyed dancing to music and playing party games like pass the parcel and musical bumps. All the children enjoyed getting to meet the Christmas fairy and receiving their presents! We had lots of party food which we had made especially for our party. We ate our strawberry Santas and our coconut truffles which were delicious.

We have an informal parents evening on Monday 12th January from 6-8pm where you will have the opportunity to come along and speak to staff about GIRFEC and see your child’s progress. We hope you will be able to come along.
