Building Foundations for the Future!

We have been getting very festive this month on the run up to Christmas.

We have been busy using our fine motor skills to create lots of Christmas artwork and gifts for our families using a variety of materials. Our fabulous gifts included cards, reindeer dust and Christmas tree baubles.

We have been continuing to work on our body movement, balance and climbing. We have been encouraging the children through music and through copying what our teachers have been showing us. We have been using resources to also encourage movement by exploring soft play and using bean bags for the children to balance on different parts of their bodies.

Outside in the garden we have been supporting the children on the balance beam and promoting their independence and confidence to cross the beam with little aid from teachers.

Tweenies have shown an interest in transport and we have been looking at construction books and talking about the different types of transport we would find. Out in the garden we have been looking for aeroplanes and during our walks around Tranent we have been on the look out for bin lorries, trucks and buses.

We had a fantastic time at our Christmas party where we met the Christmas fairy and received our presents. We ate lots of delicious party food and danced to music. We enjoyed playing with tinsel and playing games.

We have an informal parents evening on Monday 12th January from 6-8pm where you will have the opportunity to come along and speak to staff about GIRFEC and see your child’s progress. We hope you will be able to come along.
