In the Toddler room the children have been really interested in pirates and have had ┬álots of fun dressing up as pirates. The children helped to create a big pirate ship in the construction area that they used to recreate some of the illustrations they saw in the story “Ten Little Pirates.”

The children also used crates in the garden area as pirate ships adding a mast and Jolly Rodger flags. The toddlers went on a treasure hunt to find coins using the metal detectors and some clues to find the treasure. They also made a pirate pizza for lunch and had a range of arts and crafts activities relevant to the children’s interest in Pirates.

The children have been demonstrating their growing independence when they are getting dressed for the garden. We have been encouraging the children to put on their jacket and shoes for going outside and everyone is doing great!

We have also created a more accessible self source area for the children to access the resources needed for the paint easel like their paint and utensils.

In the construction area we have seen the children utilising the small world characters to extend their play. We have set up some small world tough spots to extend their interests and will continue to do this.
