This month, the Rainbows have been exploring the small world area. We created a reflection area for the children to take some time for themselves and to read stories in. We have also introduced using real foods into our home corner, including potatoes, carrots, baby corn and peas! We have really enjoyed making all sorts of delicious dinners with them! We have also enjoyed using the water tray to experiment with different coloured water, measuring quantities and filling and pouring. It has been great for our hand eye coordination! We have also introduced a lot more junk modelling into our art area, with access to paint and glue when we would like to use it!

We had a visit from a police woman and really enjoyed learning all about how she helps people and also having a look at all her exciting equipment. We dressed up as police men and women, as well as trying out her handcuffs on our teachers! We also took a trip to the fire station to see the fire engines! When we came back to nursery, we created our very own display of a fireman in his uniform and some fire engines!

We have created our ‘Learning Wall’ which we use to promote the children’s involvement in which piece of artwork or which of their achievements they would like to display on the wall for the month for everyone to see!

We have introduced mini beasts into our room, after finding some in the garden! We have created some spiders using our fingers to paint the legs and the eyes! We also brought some mud into the room to explore using our mini beasts! Maybe we can go digging for some worms in our mud kitchen!
