Building Foundations for the Future!

Caterpillars April 2017

The Caterpillars have been very interested in sensory play this month. We have made new sensory bottles to fit in with Easter, using small foam eggs, Easter confetti and cotton wool, which we made into a bunny! The children love to shake these bottles and watch the objects move around. We also created a wall display with foot print carrots and Easter egg shaped paper with multi coloured wood shaving stuck on, which the caterpillars stuck with glue.

In other areas of play we have used textures, to explore their senses. We have had shaving foam to make marks in, as well as using pens and pencils. The children have loved using dry foods to explore too. We have used flour, dry pasta, oats and rice which we dyed with food colour. These activities have been building on their fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination.

As the nicer weather is coming, we have been able to use the outdoor space more and develop on our gross motor skills. Can we please ask that you hand in sun cream and a sun hat for the better weather!
