This month the Rainbows have been exploring the diggers and excavators in our sand tray.  We have also brought these vehicles into the mud kitchen in the garden.  The children have been very interested when going out for walks to look for different types of vehicles on the road!  We have loved using our fine motor skills to practice using the diggers in the sand to pile it up and create sand castles!

We have also been learning about Autumn this month as unfortunately it is getting colder!  We have enjoyed exploring the different colours of the trees and walking down the heugh to look for conkers.  On our first walk we found that a lot of the leaves were still on the trees but we’re turning a bright yellow colour, the next time we went the leaves were mostly on the ground and were lots of different colours!  We collected some in bags and brought them back to nursery.  We also collected some unopened conkers!  When we brought them back to nursery we crushed up the leaves and used them for our Autumn display in our Story corner.  We created pictures of leaves using the real leaves, glitter, tissue paper and also some leaf shaped sequins!  We had a great time investigating the conkers and managed to crack them open to see the smooth, shiny conkers inside!
