Building Foundations for the Future!

This month the Ladybirds have been exploring the change in the seasons, we have been bringing in leaves that we have found in the garden or that the children have brought in and we have been using the leaves to create pieces or art, from sticking the leaves to our paper to make ‘hedgehogs’ or using the leaves with paint to create marks on our paper. We have also been talking about the change on the trees and often will stand at the window and watch as the leaves are blown to the ground by the wind!

Carly and Michelle have been working hard together to make the room more engaging for the children to explore and have changed in room layout slightly. We have taken away one of the doors on our unit to make a hiding space for the children to play in and take time out for themselves. We have also brought in a new unit to provide more resources for the children to self-source which change frequently to keep the children interested in them and help them develop their fine-motor skills with building blocks, or their colour recognition with simple board games.

We have also introduced a small tuff spot, which everyone has enjoyed exploring! We have put in story sacks in these to help develop the children’s language and imagination or different coloured rice with small world people and characters, which the children have enjoyed using too. We change this often depending on what the children are interested in!
