Primary 6 and 7 went to the Book Festival in Edinburgh on Tuesday 26th August. They went to see Joan Lingard talking about her new book, the Eleventh Orphan. She read to them and held a question and answer session. Cairn in P6 asked her what she did when she got writer’s block! Her reply was to go for fresh air and a long walk.
Many of the children bought new books and had them signed by the author. We are all currently reading Natasha’s Will and plan to work on the Eleventh Orphan as it ties in nicely with our topic on the Victorians.
Joan Lingard was so impressed with the children’s manners and enthusiasm for reading that she has agreed to visit the school later in the year.
