Mini-Bridge Club

Mrs Barrie, a member of the Aberlady community, came into school last term to share a little bit of what is involved in playing mini bridge.  We have 16 pupils from P6 and P7 who have signed up to join the lunch time club that starts next week (12th Jan 2016) Mini bridge helps develop our numeracy skills and should be a lot of fun!

Scottish Book Week

We are celebrating Scottish Book Week on Monday 23rd -Friday 27th Nov 2015 in various ways.

All families will have received an email with the timetable of events, home learning task and information about the 2nd book sale ran by P6 on Thursday.  Staff are talking with their pupils about what is going on too.

More info about Scottish Book Week in general can be found at:

Children in Need

Our Charity Committee have decided not to have our usual walk round the village this year to raise funds for Children in Need as we have very recently completed the Skipathon for British Heart Foundation, as well as collecting items for Syrian children and Samaritans Purse Shoebox appeal.  We will therefore make Friday a “Dress Down Day” and children can bring a donation if they wish to take part.  Lessons will be as normal.

School Card Design

Aberlady School Card Competition

We need cards in school that we can use to thank people and send special messages to. We need your help to design these cards.  These will be designed as part of art lessons next week.

There will be 1 winner in each of these categories:

N-P2            P3-5             P6&7

Prizes: The winner will receive a Headteacher Award, their work will be displayed on our good work board and their design will be made into the school cards. There will be Headteacher awards for pupils who have put in an excellent effort.

What are we looking for? Your design can actually be anything you think would be nice to be on a card that could be given to someone in our community.   It could be in black ink pen, it could contain lots of colours. You have a wide choice. It is being printed by Cauliflower Cards so we need to meet their print rules, just like your Christmas Cards.  It should contain the words “Aberlady Primary School”; this can be written by you or an adult or printed off a computer.

Judges: Mrs Currie, Mrs Mair and Mrs Russell will judge the entries.

Closing Date: Thursday 8th October

WOW! PTA do it again!

AUTUMN FAIR

What a tremendous amount of work went on behind the scenes to make this event so incredible.  £3400 is an amazing amount raised and will make such a difference to the work of the school, ultimately impacting on the learning and development of our pupils.

Thanks to everyone who gave so generously their time, effort, goodies and cash!

Still time left to donate…

Today we celebrated Harvest. We considered thankfulness and the Syrian refugee crisis.  We have extended the deadline for donations as some of our pupils are still wanting to bring in items for the children. On Friday we will be giving the Aberlady families heading to Greece the boxes of your generous donations to give to the Syrian refugees.
