We have been learning about Autumn in the nursery. When we were out on our autumn walk last week we found some wheat that had been left by the farmer. We harvested the wheat ourselves and brought it back to nursery. We ground the wheat into flour and then made bread using the flour. Do you like our autumn artwork. We love autumn in the nursery!

A lovely day in the Nursery
The afternoon nursery class had a lovely morning playing in our garden and in the Wood of Wonder. We enjoyed making mud pies in our mud kitchen and playing with the super instruments in the Wood of Wonder.
Halloween in the Nursery
We have had an exciting, spooky morning in the nursery today. We started the day with Wake up and Shake up and enjoyed watching some of our parents taking part too.
The children had fun scooping out the insides of the pumpkin. We talked about the different textures and looked at the seeds. We drew a pictures of pumpkins and we carved the children’s design ideas onto our pumpkin.
As we didn’t want to waste the lovely pumpkin we had a look in our store cupboard and decided to make a yummy pumpkin pie for our snack. Everyone had a turn to help with the ingredients and we all enjoyed trying a taste of the condensed milk! All the children tried the cake and soon the news of cake spread around the school and lots of staff came down to have some too.
We painted our hands and used our threading skills to make magical spiders which we took to decorate our homes for Halloween. The children spent some time feeding our baby stick insects with some fresh leaves. At the end of a very busy morning we had a few minutes enjoying some quiet time watching Meg and Mog. We found out that Mrs Paterson is a big fan of this as she came to watch it with us.
Happy Halloween everyone!
Health Week in P4
P4 have had a busy and exciting day today. Our day began by running a mile. The pupils alternated sprints and jogging and then checked their pulses to see the effect that exercise has on our heart rate. To relax our minds after the run we lay down on the floor and listened to music of Buddhist monks chanting as part of our RME topic. After break P4 enjoyed an exciting judo class where they learned the judo hold, how to pin their partner to the mat and a judo throw. The pupils even learned a few words in Japanese to accompany their moves.
In the afternoon Mrs Askham, Freddie, Jo Jo and Esme’s mum came in to talk to us about art therapy. We discussed mental and physical health and then wrote down some of our own feelings which were stored inside beautiful feelings boxes made by the pupils. P4 ended the day with a quiz on body facts and then won £1,000,000 on a health version on Who wants to be a Millionaire.
