P1/2 and P2/3 are practicing for there show.
Aberlady School Card Competition
We need cards in school that we can use to thank people and send special messages to. We need your help to design these cards. These will be designed as part of art lessons next week.
There will be 1 winner in each of these categories:
N-P2 P3-5 P6&7
Prizes: The winner will receive a Headteacher Award, their work will be displayed on our good work board and their design will be made into the school cards. There will be Headteacher awards for pupils who have put in an excellent effort.
What are we looking for? Your design can actually be anything you think would be nice to be on a card that could be given to someone in our community. It could be in black ink pen, it could contain lots of colours. You have a wide choice. It is being printed by Cauliflower Cards so we need to meet their print rules, just like your Christmas Cards. It should contain the words “Aberlady Primary School”; this can be written by you or an adult or printed off a computer.
Judges: Mrs Currie, Mrs Mair and Mrs Russell will judge the entries.
Closing Date: Thursday 8th October
What a tremendous amount of work went on behind the scenes to make this event so incredible. £3400 is an amazing amount raised and will make such a difference to the work of the school, ultimately impacting on the learning and development of our pupils.
Thanks to everyone who gave so generously their time, effort, goodies and cash!
Today we had a visit from Joe from Changeworks who came to encourage us all not to waste our food. He told us about how much food is wasted in our schools and in the whole country. He explained what happens to food when it is sent to landfill. It is HORRIBLE! He asked us not to be Silly Sausages, and to finish the food we are given (Here’s a hint – do not take too much to begin with. You can always ask for more!)
We found out that the Eco Committee had secretly weighed all the waste from our dinner hall on ONE day last week. It was 36kg (5stone 9lbs!!) We weighed one of the P7 boys and it was the same weight as him! We are going to try to reduce the amount we waste every day so that the next time the rubbish is weighed it will be much less.
At the end of our assembly, P1 and the Nursery sang a fantastic Eco song and played some of the instruments they made yesterday. It was brilliant. Thanks Nursery and P1.
Finish food assembly on PhotoPeach
The highlights of Health Week so far have been Hand Washing, Taekwon Do, Wake up and Shake Up and Drama. To wash your hands properly you have to wash your hands for 30 seconds and to know when 30 seconds is up you can sing happy birthday two times. When we went to drama we had to save two princesses and the king from a tower because granny McDonald was ill. At Taekwon Do we got to punch and kick. That’s P3 Health Week so far!
