About Aberlady PTA
PTA (Parent Teachers Association)
The PTA exists to support the school, assist parents and run activities that enhance the life of the children during their time at Aberlady Primary.
We are a friendly and enthusiastic bunch of parents who fulfil these aims through a number of regular and one-off activities which could be classified as fundraising, fun or functional – or any combination of the three!
Funds raised by the PTA, through events such as the Autumn Fair, are normally donated to the school to pay for activities, equipment or other resources that improve our children’s experience at school, and which would not normally be provided from core school funds. Occasionally, we use funds directly for activities that we are initiating such as the Dragons’ Den event. If we were unable to do this, some of these activities/resources would not be possible. We also provide practical help to parents such as running parent consultation crèches, holding sales of “recycled” school (and other) uniforms and organising refreshments for events such as Sports Day, Christmas Performance and Beetle Drive.
The PTA has a small, but active, committee who work together with a larger group of parent helpers/supporters. Meetings are held bi-monthly, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. Any parent is welcome to attend PTA meetings (dates of which are noted on our sub-pages along with our Members Information, Calendar of Events and Uniform sales information). You don’t have to attend our meetings to get involved as there are activities throughout the year that you can help with. You can choose how involved you become.
We work closely with Mrs Currie & her staff team to ensure that our activities add value to school life, and we are delighted that she and her colleagues regularly attend our meetings and involve themselves in PTA activities.
