Hi Everyone,
The next volunteer group at the Bay will be on Sunday when we’ll be removing unwanted plants from the sand dunes and surveying some wanted ones. Being hoiked out will be small Giant Hogweed plants and a thing called Two-spined Acaena which are growing in the foredunes at the back of the beach. After we’ve done this, we’ll be surveying some plants in the dunes and will have the opportunity to take a look at other flowers and wildlife along the way. The ground will be dry where we’re working but there will be spiky marram grass so I don’t recommend shorts!
Please let me know if you can make it along to help out. As usual, it’ll be a 9.30am start and 3pm finish.
The following two volunteering events (7th & 18th August), weather permitting, will involve removing reedmace from one of the reserve’s wet pools. More on this to follow…
