Firstly, many thanks to the 13 folk who came along yesterday to put up the shiny new electric fencing. We were rewarded by views of little egrets, ruffs and cake for Abbie’s birthday!
There is still quite a bit to do to finish off the fencing so are any of you free for an extra volunteer day next week on THURSDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER? The sheep are due to arrive in about a fortnight so it would be great if some of you could come along to help out!
The next weekend group will be on the following Sunday (14th September) when we will be, for the first time, working out at the South Pool. This is a shallow pool first excavated around the 1950s but which has, over time, been covered (now almost entirely) by encroaching vegetation. Therefore, the main task for the day will be to rake up cut vegetation. The first geese arrive, on average, around the 9th September so hopefully we’ll have a few in the Bay to cheer us on our way through the day.
Both tasks will start and finish at 9.30am and 3pm respectively and we’ll meet in the main car park as usual. Teas and coffees provided. Please let me know if you can make it along to either or both.
