Reedmace Removal on Sunday

ABay976The next volunteer group will be this Sunday (16th) when we will be removing more reedmace from the Wader Scrape. We made excellent progress last Wednesday (many thanks go to the big team of folk who came along!) and we’ll be back to try to complete removal of the two main areas.

As last time, water levels are low (although heavy rain forecast for Friday may change that) so there’ll be digging and cutting work in sloppy mud and on firmer, dry ground too. Therefore, please bring wellies, boots or old shoes, depending on your preference. We’ll meet at 9.30am in the car park and be back by 3pm. Teas, coffees and biscuits will be provided. Please let me know if you can make it along.

We saw lots of wildlife at the last group. Well done to Dick for finding four fantastic elephant hawk-moth caterpillars munching on the willowherb. We were saw a little egret and were visited by a greenshank and an antler moth.
