I spent quite a few hours of the Easter Holidays at Edinburgh International Science Festival events and was delighted to discover, via Facebook (Edinburgh University Science Podcast), that a podcast featuring interviews with various participants is available. Amongst others are featured:
- The mercurial Quentin Cooper of The Material World fame on the life of a science presenter.
- at 08:25 is Tracy Alloway talking about The New Intelligence: Working Memory – this talk covers issues such as the difference between IQ and working memory; Facebook – social networking – real and virtual and its effect on memory, vocabulary and test scores.
- at 22:17 Dr Ian Deary of the Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology on Personality
- at 28:10 Brian Cox of Wonders of the Solar System fame.
You can access the podcast here (click “download link” which appears under 1st paragraph).
Thanks for the mention! There’s a new podcast out every two weeks if you want to hear more.
Don’t mention it, Frank, it was great to have the sense of perspective of the festival afforded but such intelligent & concise interviewing. I’ve signed up on Facebook, and will look/listen out for future podcasts.
Best wishes
Alan
