Celebrating success

We have scooped up a lot of awards this year. Wellwynd Hub won a Chartered Institute of Housing Excellence in Housing Award, were runners-up in the COSLA Excellence Awards, and secured both the One Council and Council Worker of the Year (for Morven McLelland from the Hub team) in this year’s Star Awards. If you want to find out more about the Wellwynd Hub, have a look at these before and after videos, starring our very own Alana Stewart.

Our Community Review Team also won a Highly Commended in the Team of the Year section of the Star Awards too.

Earlier this year, our Collaborative Working for Integrated Care (CWIC) Team, based at Musselburgh Primary Care Centre, were the worthy winners of this year’s NHS Lothian Celebrating Success Team of the Year Award. They really deserve it and  big congratulations to them all.  Here’s a wee video about what they do:

And that’s not all!

Local matters#Caringlearningsharing – An intergenerational project between Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School & Crookston Care Home was highly commended in the Generations Working Together Scottish Recognition Awards

The project is a partnership between Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School and Crookston Care Home in Tranent, East Lothian. It involves P7 pupils from Sanderson’s Wynd providing assistance to their local care home. Each morning a group of pupils are responsible for the buying and delivery of the residents’ newspapers. This involves collecting the order form and money from staff at the care home, purchasing the correct papers from the local newsagents, collecting the receipt and change and the delivering the papers personally to each resident.

Another group of children support staff in planning and organising and residents’ activity afternoon every Wednesday. Their positivity and enthusiasm has been noted by care home staff. The residents love having the children lead the activities and the pupils are gaining valuable experience in leadership and team work.

Congratulations to everyone involved and also thank you to all ELHSCP staff for your dedication, innovation and teamwork – you’re doing a great job and making a real difference for the people who use our services.
