STRiVE is no more – welcome Volunteer Centre East Lothian!

STRiVE has relaunched as Volunteer Centre East Lothian, which is the Third Sector Interface for East Lothian.

Volunteer Centre East Lothian provide support, learning and development opportunities for both individuals and organisations through our Volunteering, Organisational Support, Youth, Adventure and Wellbeing teams.

Interfaces were created:

  • To provide a single point of access for support and advice for the third sector within their local area.
  • To ensure that the third sector is effectively supported and represented at the local level.

They have one mission at their heart – to build empowered, resilient communities with a thriving third sector. They promote and encourage informal learning, leadership development and community capacity building across our services.

Volunteer Centre East Lothian’s themed forums and networks facilitate third sector participation and representation in local community planning.

Volunteer Centre East Lothian continues to be led by Interim Chief Officer Maureen Allan.

  1. Strive helped us set up the ‘Cook-Inn’ fresh food bank just over three years ago. We have lost our chef, and we need your help to discover which qualifications one of us needs to be legally able to supervise the making of hot food to complement the delivery of the fresh food parcels. We looked it up and got conflicting information – level 2 food hygiene and safety? it is also worrying us that, if it can’t be completed online, the covid restrictions may prevent us from being able to gain said qualifications. Please help us through this minefield.
