From Michael Huddleston, Dementia Adviser, Edinburgh & Lothians, Alzheimer Scotland
I hope you are well. Please see below for this week’s update from Alzheimer Scotland Mid and East Lothian:
- A reminder that Alzheimer Scotland’s Memory Walk is taking place over the weekend of 19-20 September. Please visit https://www.alzscot.org/memorywalk to sign-up for free. Walkers can fundraise, donate, or simply take part! Download the Memory Walk poster here.
There are still some spaces remaining for Alzheimer Scotland’s “An Audience With…” event on Wednesday 2nd September. This is a brilliant opportunity for football fans to interact with three legends of the Scottish game: Tam Cowan – football journalist and radio presenter; Alan Rough – former Scottish footballer; and Barry Ferguson – MBE Scottish football coach. Tickets cost £10 with all proceeds going to Alzheimer Scotland. There will also be a live auction with some fantastic prizes on offer. https://www.alzscot.org/our-work/events/an-audience-with
- National Galleries of Scotland have shared their programme of Dementia Friendly online activities, which include a mix of live and pre-recorded material, starting from September. Find out more here.
- The Scottish Parliament’s “Health and Sport Committee” have a survey out looking into social care for adults over 18. People receiving care at home, their family and unpaid carers can all submit answers with a view to informing how social care will be provided going forward: https://yourviews.parliament.scot/health/covid19-social-care/ Responses are required by September 7th.
Alzheimer Scotland continue to provide support, information and advice by telephone and video consultation. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns we can support you to address – telephone numbers below.
