From Maureen Allan, Chief Officer, VCEL
As you may have heard, we are launching a new online lottery called the East Lothian Community Lottery. We are initiating the lottery as we recognise that since the austerity measures and the pandemic has been underway, the local voluntary and community sector are very often the hardest hit.
60p from every £1 ticket of the East Lothian Community Lottery will go direct to charities, voluntary organisations, and other good causes like you. Players of the lottery can win a £25,000 jackpot, plus smaller prizes.
There are two parts to the East Lothian CommunityLottery scheme – good causes, like yourself, will be able to have your own lottery page created, and 50p in every pound spent by players using your webpage will be retained by you. A further 10p in every pound will go into a general Community Fund to fund local good causes, with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs, and VAT.
I would like you to save the date to attend the ‘Good Causes’ launch for the East Lothian Community Lottery on Tuesday23rd February with key members of your organisation. You will be able to hear all about the new lottery, how it works and how your organisation can directly benefit from participating.
