Break the chain

Almost 1 in 3 people who have Covid-19 don’t have any of the usual symptoms but are potentially passing the virus on to loved ones, friends and others in the community.

That’s why mobile Covid-19 asymptomatic testing units are being deployed in East Lothian for a further period in a bid to help identify positive cases in people without symptoms of the virus and break chains of transmission in our communities.

There will be mobile testing units at:

  • Dunbar Leisure Pool – 14 & 15 April; 19, 20 & 21 April
  • Loch Centre, Tranent – 14 & 15 April; 19, 20 & 21 April
  • Port Seton Centre – 16, 17 & 18 April; 22, 23 & 24 April
  • The Mercat Bar & Grill, Whitecraig – 16, 17 & 18 April; 22, 23 & 24 April

You can turn up to take a test on a walk-in basis. Appointments are also available. Members of the public who have no symptoms associated with Covid-19, but who may be infectious and spreading the disease without knowing it, can book a test online – when asked why you are booking a test, select the option ‘my local council or health protection team has asked me to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms’.

Alternatively telephone 0300 303 2713 to book. Appointments can be booked on the evening prior to when you want to be tested.

It’s possible for people who have been tested to return for a further test at a later date, in order to check that they have not become infectious. More information is available at www.eastlothian.gov.uk/testing
