Is your child eligible for free school meals, and if so, have you registered?
Schools receive additional funding of £1,200 from the Scottish Government for every pupil in P1 to S3 who is registered for free school meals. This is called Pupil Equity Funding, and schools use this additional money to help fund a wide range of initiatives to support achievement and provide the best possible opportunities for children’s learning.
How do I know if my child is eligible for free school meals?
Please visit our website www.eastlothian.gov.uk to check your eligibility and download an application form.
Even if your child does not wish to take up the option of having a free school meal every day, we would encourage you to register so that your child’s school will receive the Pupil Equity Funding allowance to support their learning.
A big thank you to the parent council for our trip to Foxlake. We all had a fantastic time and a fond memory for life.
Following the P1-3 assembly all our school went outside and raised our brand new saltire. Maja and Milly, our eldest and youngest pupils did a sterling job raising the flag to cheers and applause. Of course huge thanks to Mrs Darrie for getting the flag all ready. We then all joined in singing a wonderful rendition of the Saltire Song.
Well done to our Cross Country Running Club who went along to John Muir Country Park this morning to compete against various other schools from throughout East Lothian – you were brilliant.
Thank you to Mrs Gray and Mrs Mostyn for transporting us to and from the event 🙂
We look forward to sharing the results with you as soon as they are published.
Today the nursery and the primary classes had two Chinese language students, Ellie and Na from Edinburgh University sharing the story of Chinese New Year and teaching the children some Chinese characters and words.Â
Today was our last day of term, and for P7 it was the end of primary school. There were mixed feelings as P7 said goodbye, but looked forward to all kinds of excitement and challenge in high school. We wish them all well. After our church service the P7 pupils lined up to do something which only happens once a year – pulling the old bell rope and ringing the school bell. We hope everyone has a good rest and an enjoyable holiday.
I will be sending off our order for school uniform this week – if you would like uniform ordered for the start of the new term please let me know by Thursday 28th May.
Thanks – Mrs Cameron
All the schools in our cluster that were together at Dounans have been sharing the photos they took. There are now slideshows of 2 of the groups on the P4-7 blog. We’ll post the final slideshow as soon as we have the photos!
