Cycle Training
16 11 2015East Lothian Outdoor Learning Service are happy to announce a new round of funding allowing them to further their offer of cycle training courses to school staff and volunteers. They are offering Cycle Training Assistant (CTA) and Cycle Trainer (CT) Courses as well as a mentoring programme.
CTA courses are offered to school staff and volunteer parents etc. This is a one day course (min 6 hours) which can be delivered over two session (min 3 hours).
This course offers the minimum training time for delivery of Bikeability Scotland Level 1 & 2 sessions.
CT courses are offered to those who are confident, competent cyclists and are used to cycling amongst traffic on busy roads. This is a 4 day course but not necessarily consecutive days.
We are also able to offer mentoring to existing CTA’s. The aim of the mentoring programme is to raise the confidence of trainers, enhance their knowledge base and also be kept up to date with new guidelines and best practice.
We are aware that some CTAs do not feel confident teaching and assisting in a road environment and we would love to have the opportunity to help build the skills and confidence of those people.
For more information about these courses please follow this link to ELOLS website
We would like to be able to offer Cycle Training at Campie and having a team of qualified volunteers would mean we would be able to provide training for our pupils which will help them to be safe and responsible cyclists.
