The Skills for the Future is a Heritage Lottery Funded project that aims to train 12 young people, aged between 18 and 24, in the digitisation of our collections.
There are two groups of six trainees. They will work at the Scottish National Gallery, Scottish National Portrait Gallery and National Library of Scotland for 18 months in total. Each trainee is paid a salary of £15,000 per year.
Their aim is to photograph our 2d artwork (prints, drawings, watercolours, etchings) and books at the National Library of Scotland so that they can be published online. Trainees will also gain experience of different aspects of the work of the galleries including art handling, copyright, cataloguing and digital activities.
