Foundation Course 2022/2023.
If any of your students are thinking of full-time study in the visual arts, then Leith School of Art’s Foundation Course is an excellent starting point. Unique in Scotland, the course is diagnostic, helping each student find their own direction. Guided by our artist tutors, students build up a specialised portfolio for application to higher education art schools and colleges in the UK and internationally. With a high staff/student ratio of about 1:15, the course delivers personal, high quality tuition to each student.
Our Open Days are a great chance to get firsthand experience of what life in an art school is really like. We are absolutely delighted to resume our in-person Open Days for this academic year. Our Foundation Course Open Days will be:

Thursday 18 November – 10am till 3pm
See the Foundation Course in action – our October Open Day will see the students working on their Illustration week and our Open Day in November covers our Options week where students have the opportunity to choose a discipline – body adornment, lens based work or mixed media painting
Speak with students about their experience on the course so far
Option of scheduling one-to-one discussions with a member of the team and have your portfolio reviewed ahead of making an application.

If any students are not able to come on this date please encourage them to get in touch with us to arrange an alternative date. If you would like to arrange a group visit with your staff and students please let us know and we can arrange this.
The School offers a Bursary Scheme that is funded by our supporters and a wide range of trusts and foundations. This allows us to offer financial support to prospective students who would not otherwise be able to study here. Funding is limited and allocated on a means-tested basis, and is usually up to a maximum of 50% of the course fees.
