Barratt Developments: Apprentice Programme – Bricklayers and Joiners (Midlothian and Edinburgh)

What you’ll be doing?
Our apprentice programme is run in partnership with CITB, the Sector Skills Council for construction. It mixes college study with practical on-site training with experienced trade specialists, and a programme that goes well beyond the standard syllabus.

Once you’re accepted, you’ll start a four-year structured Advanced Modern Apprenticeship. You’ll learn on the job, and in a locally approved college – so you’ll be earning and learning all the time. At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have a great amount of experience and valuable job skills, plus a technical certificate and nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be reporting to the Site Manager, you will work towards gaining a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification through on and off the job, trade specific training. You will be expected to: Complete the Barratt Training Manual, complete site and college work within agreed time limits and standards whilst being consistent at gathering quality work-based evidence. You will work with colleagues to learn and develop your trade skills safely. You will learn to use and maintain hand tools, portable power tools and equipment, communicate with colleagues, lecturers and customers politely.
