NHS Lothian Summer Youth Volunteering Programme
NHS Lothian is delighted to announce the launch of its Summer Youth Volunteering Programme. The programme offers young people aged 16-24 the opportunity participate in a series of taster volunteering experiences over a five-week period in one of our Acute or Community Hospitals.
The programme is designed to widen access for young people who would not otherwise be considering a career in the NHS and/or would not ordinarily consider volunteering. To help us reach young people who would gain maximum benefit from the programme we ask you to share the attached information with those young people you are in contact with who are currently at risk of no positive destination.
We are currently accepting applications. The closing date for applications is the 3rd of June. However, there is a limited number of spaces on the programme so we would encourage early applications to prevent disappointment.
If you have any queries about the Summer Youth Volunteering Programme or would like a member of the Voluntary Services Team to speak to a group of young people or to your colleagues, then please contact Head of Volunteering Jane Greenacre via jane.greenacre@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk
Please note that young people who are interested in a careers in Medicine, Nursing or as Allied Health professionals can participate in our regular volunteer programme which runs all year round and offers all the same benefits as the summer programme. Further information on this can be found at https://www.nhslothian.scot/GetInvolved/Volunteering/Pages/Applying-to-be-a-volunteer.aspx
