We have been learning all about 2D shapes. We have been counting how many sides and corners they have. Mrs McNeill gave us a camera and we went around the nursery garden looking for shapes.

Elmer and Friends
We read the story of Elmer this week and it tells us how Elmer didn’t like being different from all of the other elephants, but he realises that being different is fine.
We have talked about how we are all the same, either a boy or girl and how we all have eyes, hair, legs, noses etc. but that if we look in the mirror we are NOT all the same. We have decided it is fine to be different and that this is what makes us us!
Then we made our own elephants from plastic milk bottles, each one different from the other.

Fun & Games
P1F had gym first thing on Monday morning and this meant that for the first time ever we had to get changed all by ourselves!
But we managed without any fuss and had great fun finding our “own space” during games like Traffic Lights and Aeroplane Tig.

P1F – What A Week!
We have had a fantastic week altogether in our new classroom. Both the East Lothian Courier and the East Lothian News have been in and taken our class photos. We are in this weeks edition of the Courier and had fun looking at our picture this morning.
Our gym day will be a Monday so please ensure that your child is wearing clothes that he or she can take off and put on independently, help will be given to those who struggle.
A great start to our healthy snacks, thank you parents and carers, keep up the good work!
Each week we will be learning about the Golden Rules and this week we have been learning how important it is to listen carefully and not interrupt. The children have been great at it!
I have also introduced our Golden Time Race Track so that children understand the yellow and red card system.
Tomorrow we will go to our first assembly and enjoy our first ever Golden Time.

Our First Few Days
We are beginning to learn our new routine in our P1 class and have had great fun exploring the areas in our classroom.
On Our Doorstep
P1/2 enjoyed having their adults in to show off their learning. We were so pleased that so many of you turned up and it was a very successful afternoon.
We had fun showing you what we had been learning and hope that you enjoyed our cheese and jam pieces, prawn cocktail and tuna pate, searching for treasure, being made up as a pirate and seeing how and what we have learned.
