This Friday – Sport Relief dress down day!

Dress down in sports clothes this Friday to celebrate Sport Relief – please feel free to donate a small amount (max £1) for this worthy cause!

We will also mark Earth Hour this coming Friday – a global event to celebrate taking care of Planet Earth. We will be turning all lights off in school for 1 hour to  save  energy!

Social Media and Internet Safety – Information Session for Parents and Carers

Thursday 25th January 2018 at 6.30pm – 7.00pm
ALL Parents/Carers welcome to attend

Matthew O’Connor, Guidance Teacher at Musselburgh Grammar, will be hosting a social media and internet safety session for parents and carers on Thursday 25th January at Cockenzie Primary School.

Invitation to attend is open to all parents/carers across the school.

Please note that due to the content of the session, children are NOT able to attend.


Children in Need 2017! THANK YOU!

Today we ‘dressed down’ to raise money for Children in Need 2017! Lots of spots and Pudsey ears could be spotted across the school!

The total raised so far is a whopping £393.78 with more money to be added and counted soon. Keep your eyes peeled for a final total soon! Well done to Mrs Mercer’s Fundraising Action Team and our football coach Vanda who helped organise lots of fun fundraising activities all week long.

Thank you to all across the school community for supporting this great cause!

CPS Calendar Photoshoot on Monday!

Our whole school calendar photo-shoot (photographs by Alexandra Hill) is happening on Monday.

Please all come to school dressed ready to go! Remember the weather, so feel free to bring school uniform to change into after.

Birthday month themes:
January – Burns, tartan, Scottish flag

February – Valentine’s – love hearts, pink/red etc.

March – St Patrick’s Day – Green, Irish flag colours, 4 leaf clovers etc.

April – Commonwealth Games – sporting wear, country flag colours etc.

May – Gala Day – fishermen, crowns/robes, dresses etc.

June – Wimbledon – white, shorts/t-shirts, tennis theme

July – World Cup – International football colours/strips

August – Festival – bright colours, music/drama theme etc.

September – Harvest – autumn colours, farmer style clothes, overalls

October – Halloween – no scary masks please

November – Poppy/Remembrance – red/black, poppies

December – Christmas

Remember, please spend no money on an outfit

Well done to the Cockenzie Girls’ footballers who finished second in their group today. The girls were playing in a football tournament at Meadowmill led by their dedicated coach Vanda Dow. Primary 7 boys – football champions!

Congratulations to our P7 boys football team! Today at Meadowmill they won 7 games out of 7 to take home the John Robertson cup!

This team of boys have won both the Douglas Allen and John Robertson cups this year – the first time in 33 years for Cockenzie PS!
