Book Fair – books on order

If your child is waiting on a book from the Book Fair, these have only just arrived in school with the Scholastic delivery driver who came to collect the cabinets.  Unfortunately this was just as the bell was ringing so we didn’t have time to get them out before the classes left.  All books will be given out first thing in the morning and a message sent via Dojo to confirm this.  Thanks for your patience.

P5B Co-op Adverts

When Matthew Howie the manager of the Co-op heard about the adverts we had made he wanted us to let him use them for the Co-op’s open day in April.

We were so excited that we decided to make five new adverts just about the Co-op. On a Monday we made posters to be displayed in the shop. On the Tuesday we wrote our scripts and rehearsed our lines and then on Wednesday we filmed all five adverts in one day.

Quiet Garden Clean-Up

Today was cleaning day in the Quiet Garden. The Outdoor Learning Action Team, the Gardening Action Team, parent volunteers and Mrs MacKinnon were all doing their bit to make the garden a lovely place for us to socialise, enjoy the sun and have lunch.

WELL DONE EVERYONE! 🙂

Fabulous Assembly Today (23rd February)

Today’s assembly was about celebrating success, hard work and determination.

First we had presentations of Bronze and Silver certificates for pupils who log their achievements with the Children’s University.

Then we all listened with admiration to judo player Louise Renicks.  She talked to us about the importance of a good diet, exercise, determination and hard work.

Fiona O’Donnell visit

Fiona O’Donnell MP visited us before Christmas to talk about her job and the work she does at Parliament.  We asked her lots of informed questions about her role as an MP and we discussed democracy, human rights and the referendum on Scottish independence.  Here she is pictured with our P7 Class Reps for: Health, Eco, fairtrade, Pupil Council and Rights Respecting School.

Primary 7 Visit

Fiona O’Donnell MP came to visit Primary 7 today to conclude our Government topic.  She told us lots of information about her job and we discussed important issues in the community and what we could do about them.  Fiona was very impressed that we had done so much work about the Scottish independence debate and that we are very knowledgeable about devolved and reserved matters.

We got the chance to ask lots of informed questions and then our pupil representatives had a photograph taken with her.

Next week we are visiting the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood and hope to meet more MSPs.

Fiona congratulated us on all the Rights Respecting School work we have done.  Her job at Westminster involves looking at aid for developing countries and she is very keen to be involved with our RRSA work and has agreed to become an honorary member of our steering group.
